Bob and Gracie Ekblad are general directors of Tierra Nueva in Burlington, Washington and lead The People’s Seminary and Tierra Nueva Global-- overseeing branches in Honduras, London and Kenya. Both are pastors in the Presbyterian Church (USA). Bob holds a ThD in Old Testament and is known internationally for his courses and workshops on reading the Bible. Bob and Gracie minister at Tierra Nueva and at their home-based retreat center New Earth Refuge. They have three children.
Increasingly Bob & Gracie are invited to train leaders in developing counties (Zimbabwe, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania), requiring outside funding for travel expenses.
Car for Zimbabwe pastors Richard & Elizabeth
Pastor Richard Malitino leads a church in Gweru, Zimbabwe that reaches out to the poor and marginalized. He and his wife Elizabeth travel all over Zimbabwe, preaching and overseeing other pastors. They must use public transportation, and really need a vehicle. Tierra Nueva is working with Pastor Richard to offer The People's Seminary's Certificate in Transformational Ministry at the Margins. In January 2016 we offered our first module to 115 pastors. We were deeply impressed by Pastor Richard's leadership and will continue to partner with him to offer modules 2 and 3 in the next year.
Fund leadership course for African pastors
The People's Seminary (TPS) completed modules 1-2 of our Certificate in Transformational Ministry at the Margins to 200 Kenyan pastors in Kanduyi, Kenya and Gueru, Zimbabwe and module 1 to 100 Ethiopian pastors. We are offering module 3 (transformational Bible study) in January 2018 and a module 1 in Mbeya, Tanzania and module 2 in Ethiopia. Tierra Nueva needs to raise the funds to course expenses. TPS is providing lunch for these 500 pastors for four days. The total cost for these four trainings is, $27,500.00, or $55 per pastor.
Tierra Nueva Honduras
$25,000 to purchase a four-wheel drive transport truck for moving people and coffee.
In Spanish, ‘tierra nueva’ means ‘new earth.’ The name comes from Isaiah 65:17, where God says, “Behold I am creating new heavens and a new earth.” This new earth is the kingdom of God that Jesus proclaimed and ushered in through his ministry of embracing the outcasts, healing the sick, delivering the demonized, and teaching the people.
